About Brow Lift Surgery
Droopy, heavy eyelids and a wrinkled forehead can make you look tired or unapproachable. Brow lift surgery can boost your appearance by removing and tightening excess or loose skin, for refreshed, younger and brighter features.
During your initial consultation, one of our cosmetic surgeons will discuss your specific needs and goals with you and can help you decide if you’re a good candidate for a browlift procedure. For men and women who desire a more comprehensive approach to correct sagging skin and wrinkles, a facelift may be a more suitable option.
When a drooping brow interferes with your ability to see clearly, you may want to explore your options for eyelid surgery. Our cosmetic surgeons are best equipped to assess your situation and determine which procedure can offer you the best benefits.
Your Brow Lift Procedure
Depending on your unique anatomy and your goals for your final results, there are a few brow lift options to consider. There are two primary types of surgical procedures to treat the brow:
Traditional Forehead Lift Surgery
During traditional or “open” brow lift surgery, our cosmetic surgeon will create an incision at or just inside your hairline, where any scarring can easily be camouflaged. Through this incision, the surgeon will remove the excess or loose tissue and skin that cause wrinkles, resulting in an uplifted, rejuvenated appearance. This is an outpatient procedure under local or general anesthesia and typically takes 1 to 2 hours.
Minimal Incision Brow Lift
An endoscopic brow lift involves a significantly reduced incision size, although not everyone is a candidate for this procedure. Ideal candidates for endoscopic brow lift surgery won’t have sagging skin in their brow area. During a minimal incision forehead lift, our cosmetic surgeon will insert an endoscopic camera through half-inch incisions placed at the hairline.
The tiny camera helps guide the cosmetic surgeon as her or she corrects the lines and wrinkles between your eyes and above your brow.
Your Recovery & Results
Following an endoscopic brow lift, you can expect a decreased recovery time, as the incisions are much smaller and the surgery itself is less invasive. For either type of eyebrow lift, you may experience some swelling, bruising and discomfort, but these symptoms should diminish within 7 to 10 days as your tissue heals. You should plan to restrict strenuous physical activity for 4 weeks post-op. Most people are able to return to work within 1 to 2 weeks.
Once any bruising and swelling subsides, your final results should begin to appear, revealing a more alert, refreshed look.
