147306291When stubborn pockets of fat just don’t seem to respond to diet and exercise, many men and women choose to have liposuction to help them achieve their appearance goals. But while lots of people are familiar with the idea of liposuction, many don’t realize that there are a few different options to choose from to ensure the best body contouring results.

1. Traditional Tumescent Liposuction

The traditional method of liposuction, called tumescent liposuction, involves injecting a saline solution into the area to be treated.

This causes the fat to become swollen and hard (tumescent), making it easier for your cosmetic surgeon to remove using a small tube inserted through carefully placed incisions.

2. Ultrasonic Lipoplasty

Ultrasonic lipoplasty, or UAL, adds innovative ultrasonic technology to your traditional liposuction procedure. Instead of using a saline solution first, UAL utilizes high frequency ultrasonic waves to liquefy the fat in the desired area. Then, your cosmetic surgeon can easily remove those fat cells using the same tube and small incisions used in the traditional method.

Typically, this method requires a shorter recovery time than that of a traditional procedure because it results in less tissue trauma.

3. Power Liposculpture

Instead of the stationary tube, or cannula, used in traditional liposuction and UAL, power liposculpture employs a specialized vibrating cannula to remove more fat with less force. Thus, this procedure may deliver more efficient results.

No matter which method of liposuction you choose, be sure to work with an experienced cosmetic surgeon.

While there is some degree of difference among liposuction techniques, the most important factor in seeing the best lipo results is the experience level of your cosmetic surgeon.
